Have you heard of LipDub? It’s basically a music video with people lipsynching to the music. I personally had never heard of it until Teresa mentioned it at the last Social Media Club.
Here’s the story. There is a university in Spain called Uvic (University de Vic) and they did this awesome Lipdub video to Train’s “Hey Soul Sister”.
This is my favourite of all the LipDubs I’ve seen. Call me a sucker but I love Train’s music….they are so good at making *warm fuzzy feeling* love songs. Drops of Jupiter has always been my favourite too.
Great video, isn’t it? So apparently Perez Hilton thought it was OUR Uvic in Canada and wrote “Way to Go UVIC! There are some talented people up in Canada!” Um….now our Uvic just HAS TO do a better LipDub, right?
So bunch of amazing Uvic students got together and yes, now we are filming our own LipDub! The filming day is September 25th, this Saturday at Uvic- call time is 7am. You don’t need to be a Uvic student. This is a community event more than anything.
I have met with the organizer Shawn (Great guy with amazing energy- I love people like that!) and Teresa, who is in charge of his project’s social media part and we are super excited!
Oh, and the music we will be LipDubbing is Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet“- it usually costs thousands of dollars to use a major song like that, but since we are doing this project as a fundraiser for United Way and BC Children’s Hospital, Mr. Buble let us use the music for $50!
…now I am a fan.
Here’s the trailer of the Uvic LipDub project and please spread the word!
-Everyone welcome
-Come in colorful or crazy costume, but no logos please
-Call time is 7am
-Free food for first 3,000 people
We are also looking for sponsors-we are taking “Pledge Per View” system. For a period of 30 days we’d like businesses to donate “per 100 views” system. So for example, if the video gets 10,000 views and you pledged $0.25 per 100 views, you will donate $25.
Please contact me for more details.
Incidentally, this is my son’s 13th birthday…so we will be lip syncing our heart out on his birthday. Shawn said birthday people will most likely get a good face time so let’s see…
One last thing….we are also trying to break Guinness World Record for most people involved in a LipDub!!
So….come on down. See you there!
