Yukari PeerlessMy name is Yukari Peerless and I was born and raised in Japan. I am from a small town called Sasebo, Nagasaki and I came to Canada in 1998. I am a writer, blogger, and translator. I am the owner of Lucid Communication, a consulting firm in Victoria, B.C. We provide a variety of services to Japanese and Canadian clients, including ESL support, Homestay placement, Film/TV coordination, interpretation, translation, wedding planning, and vacation rental/real estate consulting.

I feel passionate about engaging with people and adding the personal touch.
Interestingly enough, my name Yukari means “connection” or “relationship” in old Japanese.

I am also a co-host of an online show focusing on engagement: “Getting Engaged – Online, In Life, and At Work”

I am very active on social media platforms. As one of Canada’s most influential Japanese bloggers, I have worked with companies such as Disney, Ogilvy & Mather, Dove (Unilever), and Post Foods.  I have also contributed to numerous magazines and newspapers in Japan as well as The Guardian in the UK, having been mentioned in various books as one of the key Japanese bloggers in North America.

As one of the co-founders,  I have organized Breathe Now, the first annual conference for women in my home town of Victoria, BC in April 2012.

I am also one of the Brand Ambassadors for All Nippon Airways and I have traveled to Japan(Tokyo, Okinawa and Tohoku area) with fellow ambassadors Neal Schaffer, Cali Lewis and John P. You can read about it here and here.

In 2017, I have started watercolor painting. I completed #The100dayproject to paint every day for 100 days. Now I have an Etsy shop if you want to see what I’m painting.

English is not my first language so I am sure I make many grammar mistakes here and I hope you forgive me. I am still learning.

If you ever have an interesting project or if you are interested in having me speak at your event, please contact me by email.
